The King of Pop. This is the simplest way to dub such an illustrious and legendary performer and entertainer. Michael Joseph Jackson – The King of Pop was born on August 29th 1958 in Gary, Indiana to a steel mill employee father and a stay-at-home mother and died on June 25th 2009 as possibly the greatest performer in history. The news of his sudden death caused by a heart attack in his own home had stopped the world in its tracks as fans and enthusiasts then paid tribute through songs, videos, memorials and celebrations all around the world. Tens of thousands of admirers gathered on the morning of July 8th 2009 at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles to join the star studded funeral ceremony in a somber, spiritual memorial for the superstar, whilst millions of people tuned in from all parts of the world.

He was an American recording artist, entertainer, businessman and a great humanitarian who was one of just a fare few artists in history to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. Although his pure and raw genius talent was constantly overshadowed by a bizarre personal life which dominated the tabloids and the news, he will be remembered for his immense contribution to music and gifted ability to touch people through song.
His unique and original style played an integral part in popular music and dance, making him a central part of pop culture for four decades. Having been named multiple times the “Most Successful Entertainer of All Time” in the Guinness World Records with 13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles in his solo career, and having sold over 750 million records worldwide, Michael Jackson’s distinctive musical sound and vocal style will continue to influence many generations to come.
